As we have got to know rural Mission Communities, we have seen how the people of our rural churches are often those with their finger on the pulse of their community. Bishop Sarah re-opens St Petrock’s church

After closing for a year for redevelopment, St Petrock’s church in Exeter was re-opened by Bishop Sarah earlier this month.  The opening included the ringing of St Petrock’s bells. Chudleigh Church Primary ‘Outstanding’ in church school inspection

Chudleigh CofE primary have retained their ‘outstanding’ status in their recent Church School Inspection (SIAMS – National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools). Chudleigh is a larger than average size primary school with 440 children on roll. It has grown rapidly over the last three years. Community Larder launching in Paignton

An initiative in Paignton has galvanized churches, community groups, forums, businesses and schools to provide help for vulnerable families and individuals in the town. A Community Larder is being set-up by the Central Paignton Churches and will be launching next Monday 12 December. For over 10 years the charity ‘Anode’ had provided many services for people in need in the area, including a foodbank in Torbay, providing 144,000 meals. Dementia services help people celebrate Christmas

Following the success of last year’s dementia-friendly carol service in Plymouth, two events will take place in our diocese this month. Development Worker Chris Forster from Transforming Plymouth Together (TPT) organised and led the service attended by 80 adults and 30 young people.
