WHAT IS HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY?
Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on 27 January each year, and is the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution, and in the subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
On HMD we honour the survivors of these regimes and challenge ourselves to work to end discrimination and prejudice; and pledge to help create a safer, better future.
THE 2018 THEME ‘THE POWER OF WORDS’
Each year HMD develops a theme. The annual theme for HMD 2018 is The Power of Words, and it encourages people to think about how language has been used both in the past and in the present day, and the impact this can have, whether good or bad.
Programme of events: HMD programme 2018.
