Holocaust Memorial Day 2018
Date: 27th January 2018
WHAT IS HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY?
Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place on 27 January each year, and is the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution, and in the subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
On HMD we honour the survivors of these regimes and challenge ourselves to work to end discrimination and prejudice; and pledge to help create a safer, better future.
THE 2018 THEME ‘THE POWER OF WORDS’
Each year HMD develops a theme. The annual theme for HMD 2018 is The Power of Words, and it encourages people to think about how language has been used both in the past and in the present day, and the impact this can have, whether good or bad.
HMD WORKSHOP IN EXETER – 18TH OCTOBER
We are holding a Workshop at Exeter Community Centre on Wednesday 18th October from 1-4pm. The workshop is free, and will offer support, advice and resources for people wishing to hold an event or activity for Holocaust Memorial Day 2018.
People attending will gain an insight into this year’s theme, life stories and be able to take away our new resources. It will be a great opportunity to network and share ideas with other local HMD organisers.
FREE RESOURCE PACK
Make sure you are signed up to receive the HMD 2018 resource pack as soon as it comes out in September. Again, it’s free – just sign up here:
