Galmpton primary is ‘outstanding’ say Church School inspectors
CHILDREN, staff, parents and governors of Galmpton Church of England VA Primary School, Brixham, were delighted to welcome the Archdeacon of Totnes to their school worship recently. The Ven Douglas Dettmer came to present a SIAMS Certificate as the school had achieved its first ever ‘outstanding’ grade after consistently achieving ‘good’ grades.
It was presented to a group of children with Claire Platt, Executive Head, Katy Burns, Head of School and the Rev Ian Blyde, Rector of Brixham present. Archdeacon Douglas shared in daily worship with the children leading with readings, prayers and singing. He also met with the senior staff and governors to discuss the school’s vision for its next phase.
The report particularly commended the children’s deep understanding of core Christian values and how they impact on relationships between all members and on the impact of the leadership on developing the Christian distinctiveness and ethos of the school.
Galmpton works in partnership with Collaton St Mary VA Primary School, Paignton, which also achieved an outstanding SIAMS outcome this school year.
It has been an exciting year for Galmpton, as early in 2017, it received a visit from Ofsted which confirmed its continuing ‘good’ grade.
