What to do in a vacancy

The period between your priest leaving and the licensing of a newly appointed priest is often referred to as a vacancy or interregnum. It can often be a challenging time for congregations but it is also full of opportunities.

Congregations do not face these challenges alone and there are people on hand to help you make the most of the opportunities. Your rural dean, your archdeacon and the diocesan staff are all happy to help.

The documents below will also give advice on what to expect and who to contact.
