The launch of the Chagford District Memory Café
More than 40 people attended the launch of the Chagford District Memory Café last Thursday at St Michael the Archangel church.
The café was set up by local people to offer stimulating social sessions in a safe environment for those living with dementia. It also provides an opportunity for peer group support and information for their carers.
For the launch this month, the theme was Spring and a local shepherd brought along some lambs for café users to cuddle and bottle-feed. One lady living with dementia who had not been able to leave her house since October said: ‘Meeting the lambs has made my week!’.
The next memory café will be on 10 May at 2pm and the theme will be Royal Weddings! The memory cafe will continue to run on the second Thursday of every month.
If you would like to attend a future memory café no appointment is necessary, just come along! For more information Tel: 01647 432098 or 01647 432610
