#LiveLent – Let Your Light Shine

Posted: 8th February, 2018

#LiveLent – Let Your Light Shine takes you on a six week discipleship journey in 2018 through the Gospel of John, exploring what it means to be a witness.

For each day from Ash Wednesday to Easter Day there is a short reading, a pause for reflection and prayer, and an idea for a simple action that will enable the light of Jesus to shine through our everyday lives.

The booklet is written by John Kiddle (author of the best-selling #GodWithUs) in association with Thy Kingdom Come, the global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. Copies of the booklet are available to purchase from Church House Publishing (bulk and individual copies can be purchased).

How can I sign up for SMS daily reflections? Text Lent to 88802 and we’ll send you a text message with a daily reflection for free throughout Lent.

Plastic Free Lent Challenge

One of the challenges in Lent is to discern what is surplus in our lives and do without it for a short period of time.

Martyn Goss, Director of Church and Society for the diocese, said: “This offers us a learning opportunity to appreciate our deeper relationships with others, with the Earth and with God. As we now live in a plastic-saturated world which is neither healthy nor clean, let’s give up as much plastic for Lent as we can – and get to value alternative ways of living more lightly on the planet. Maybe it will encourage us to use less in the future too.”
