Readers licensed at Cathedral service
Bishop Robert attended the annual day and licensing service at Exeter Cathedral.
Nineteen Readers were newly licensed, including those completing the third year of training, those who have transferred into the diocese and within the diocese, and some who are returning to ministry.
The preacher was the Venerable Dr Bill Schwartz, OBE, Archdeacon in the Gulf from our Companion diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf.
Christopher Futcher, Archdeacon of Exeter and the Diocesan Warden of Readers, said: “It was a very enjoyable day and joyful service. The Archdeacon in the Gulf reminded us in his sermon that ministry belongs to Christ and the test of faithfulness is keeping going when it’s difficult.
“We are so grateful for the faithfulness and hard work of our readers and the way they serve their communities with joy.”
