Rural Mission Sunday 2018
Rural Mission Sunday is a project developed by Germinate: The Arther Rank Centre. It offers a wonderful opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the life of the rural church, and to give thanks for the contribution that rural churches make to their communities and to the life of our Diocese. This year, Rural Mission Sunday takes place on 15th July, and the theme is ‘Growing Together’. There are a number of ways in which you can get involved:
Tell us what’s great about your rural church!
To mark Rural Mission Sunday, we’re putting together a video to celebrate all that’s going on in Devon’s rural churches and to showcase how they and all those involved in them are making a difference to their local communities. We would love to feature clips from rural churches all across the Diocese: if you would like to contribute, please make a short video (20 seconds maximum) telling us what’s great about your rural church! It may be a particular activity that takes place, perhaps it’s a person who really makes a difference, or maybe it’s a particular aspect of your church building. Film your video on smart phone or ipad (please film in landscape format if possible) and send it to us via Dropbox (no account necessary – just click on the link to upload your video) by Friday 22nd June 2018. The finished video will be shared across the Diocese in time for Rural Mission Sunday on 15th July.
By sending us your video, you are confirming that those appearing in it (or their guardians) have given their permission to appear on our webpages and social media accounts.
Celebrate Rural Mission Sunday during your Sunday Service
Germinate: The Arthur Rank Centre has produced a wealth of free resources on the theme of ‘Growing Together’ to help you put together a service for Rural Mission Sunday. See their website for more information.
Explore Opportunities to Grow Together with your Community
Why not use Rural Mission Sunday as an opportunity to explore how your rural church might continue to grow together with the local community? See Germinate’s website for some helpful resources, and please don’t hesitate to contact the Growing the Rural Church team for advice and support.
