The Bishop of Plymouth is supporting South West businesses during Lent by only eating local produce. The Right Reverend Nick McKinnel and his wife are only eating food sourced in Devon and Cornwall until Easter Sunday on 4 April. Around 90 Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers) from across the Diocese of Exeter gathered on Zoom earlier this month for their annual conference. The theme of the conference was Creation, Compassion and Creativity. Churches in Devon have come up with ingenious ways to mark Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. St Paul’s Church in Honiton distributed 100 bags to families containing ‘Shrove Tuesday’ kits made up of a lemon, chocolate spread, wooden spoon, pancake recipe, chef’s hat to make, and a book of activities for the 6 weeks of Lent.
