Let’s Talk Loneliness

Date: 12th May 2021
Time: 10:00 – 11:30
Venue: Zoom

Open event for churches in Devon: All volunteers & staff are welcome!
‘4.2 million people in the UK say they always or often feel lonely’ (double the number in March 2020)
‘58% of churches in the UK consider loneliness and social isolation to be the key issue that will be facing people in their community in the next year’ (‘Hope Beyond’ – All Churches Trust, July 2020)
This interactive workshop is an opportunity to find out more about the impact that loneliness and social isolation can have on the lives of older people (and those of other ages). We will be discussing ways in which Churches and Christians can make a difference in their local communities, exploring informal and more organised approaches.
The session will briefly explore Linking Lives’ befriending models – Face to Face & Telephone (Two’s Company). Over seventy churches in the UK already use them, and support is available for local churches to adopt them as part of their outreach to the lonely and socially isolated.
