Bishop’s Officer for Self Supporting Ministry (SSM)

Revd Prebendary John Lees is the Bishop’s Officer for Self-Supporting Ministry in the Diocese of Exeter. This role includes running regular learning events, supporting SSMs (plus SSMs in training including curates), representing the views and needs of SSMs to senior staff, and working alongside the diocese’s vocations team to inform and encourage potential SSMs.

In December 2020 John was also appointed to the role of National Officer for Self-Supporting Ordained Ministry. In his day job he works as a career coach and has written 15 books on careers and work including Self-Supporting Ministry: A Practical Guide (SPCK)
