RE Curriculum
All schools across the Diocese are strongly advised to follow their locally agreed syllabus and to supplement this with Understanding Christianity Units.
Introduced in September 2024 and now established in schools across Devon, Torbay and Plymouth, the current RE Agreed Syllabus offers a fresh and ambitious vision for Religious Education, drawing on the religion and worldviews approach. The syllabus is designed to enable pupils to explore the significant role that both religious and non-religious worldviews play in shaping individuals, communities and wider society. Supporting high-quality teaching and learning across primary, secondary and special school settings, it combines a clear pedagogical approach with accessible teaching resources, comprehensive subject knowledge and detailed guidance materials. The syllabus includes additional units of work alongside opportunities to deepen pupils’ understanding of diversity, belief, meaning and identity.
RE Home Learning for Children
RE Today is supporting NATRE (the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education) by providing ALL teachers with resources which they can use and share with parents to support with home learning.
Resources are available for all key stages and can be downloaded free of charge from the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education website.
