Part-Time Associate Priest (Team Vicar Designate) Crediton Ministry Team
Hours: Part-time (minimum of three days per week, plus Sundays)
We wish to appoint a new Associate Priest (Team Vicar Designate) in the emerging Crediton Ministry Hub which is developing creative and collaborative rural ministry within a vibrant ministry team serving across a large area centred on the historic market town of Crediton.
The post consists of having primary pastoral responsibility for the parishes in what is currently the North Creedy (West) Mission Community.
The task is to work with the Team Rector of Crediton (and Team Rector designate of the new Crediton Ministry Hub) to develop the ‘dispersed minster model’. We are looking for someone committed to collaborative ministry; who would enjoy developing a new model of ministry and mission for the rural church; an experienced practitioner who is dedicated to enabling the gifts and skills of lay people.
…for the Holy Spirit to lead the right person to us. This is an exciting time for us as we explore together an exciting new model of sharing ministry across our rural communities. We are looking for a gifted practitioner who will guide us through the change ahead, supporting and challenging us to embrace all that lies ahead.
- Along with the Team Rector (Designate), we long for a collaborative leader who will:
- Work with the Team Rector (Designate) to develop the dispersed minster model of church.
- Be a prayerful practitioner who is rooted in their own spirituality, can keep the right work-life balance, and would value working with a community that will support wellbeing.
- Build connections across communities, particularly in the former North Creedy West Mission Community and amongst children and young people.
- Develop the spiritual life of the church, embracing different traditions with creativity and innovation; enabling all ages to grow in faith and deepen their discipleship.
- Be enthusiastic, creative and a good communicator.
- Have experience of multi-parish benefices and working in rural settings.
- Seek ways to be a visible presence in the life of the community.
- Guide the PCCs in engaging with structural change.
- Love the rural church in all it beautiful fragility and be able to drive (and reverse) through the narrow, muddy lanes of Mid Devon.
- Someone whose heart’s desire is to bring people to know Jesus
- Tactful & diplomatic
- Flexible, approachable and empathetic with a joyous disposition
