Team Vicar (House for Duty) in the Dart & Avon Mission Community

Closing date for applications: 12:00pm on 10th September 2024

Interview date: 25th & 26th September 2024

Does the idea of mission and ministry in a diverse and creative area of Devon excite you? Are you interested in helping us explore how to hold the traditional at the same time as embracing new ways of being church. Can you help us connect with our communities and build new relationships? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are located in a beautiful part of South Devon on the fringe of Dartmoor, around the town of Buckfastleigh, the large village of South Brent and nearby smaller villages with excellent road and rail links. We are seeking a Team Vicar who appreciates the opportunities and challenges of both urban and rural ministry. He or she will be:-

  • A prayerful, pastoral priest with spiritual energy who has an understanding and enthusiasm for rural life as well as being able to relate to the urban needs of Buckfastleigh
  • Able to share ministry with confidence and able to commit to team working
  • Able to deepen the discipleship of long-standing and new worshippers
  • Continue our good relationships with schools

We are not looking for someone who can walk on water, but you will need to be self-reliant, caring, supportive and with a heart for ministry.  A sense of humour and positivity is a must!

This is a part-time post which includes housing with a five-bedroom vicarage in Buckfastleigh, a few minutes’ walk from the church.
