Vicar for the New South Dartmoor Mission Community

Closing date for applications: 6th November 2019

Interview date: 9th/10th December 2019

Could you be the first Vicar of the New South Dartmoor Mission Community?

We are looking for a leader for our group of four active churches around the growing South Devon town of Ivybridge.  The Vicar will be:

A Team Builder  who naturally helps others to discern their gifts, and calling them into leadership and service within the churches and the wider community.  A particular focus will be growing ministry in their membership and their confidence as they lead worship, provide pastoral care and engage in mission across the Mission Community.

A Kingdom Builder who is committed to leading the church in its mission to Ivybridge and the surrounding villages and equipping it’s members through prayer, example and practical training in discipleship.  A particular focus will be to support Christians who are active in Ivybridge Community College, the local secondary school rated outstanding in several successive OFSTED inspections.

A Communicator who is able to reinforce links between the four churches in the new Mission Community and to encourage their  congregations  in mission and discipleship.   A particular focus will be to maintain worship services which are inclusive and welcoming to all, while including innovative content for families and young people.

The successful candidate will be inducted as the Vicar of the new benefice of Ivybridge, Cornwood, Harford and Sparkwell known locally as South Dartmoor Mission Community.

The Vicar will be supported by a Reader in Ivybridge, a locally-sponsored part-time minister, a full team of church wardens and staff from the Diocesan Mission Community Team.
