CAPTION: Helen Williams, the new Mission Adviser for children aged 5 to 11, will start her role in the summer

Appointment of new Mission Adviser for Children

Posted: 12th March, 2020

A new Missions Adviser for children aged 5 to 11 years has been appointed to work with the Mission and Ministry team at the Diocese of Exeter. Helen Williams, who is originally from Devon but is currently working in Richmond, will join the diocese in the summer.

Helen grew up on the family farm outside Hemyock in East Devon.   She worked as children’s worker for six rural parishes in Sampford Peverell, whilst studying for a degree in Theology. Following this Helen moved to a similar role in Richmond. She said

“Almost four years on and my time ministering to children & families in three churches in Richmond has been both good to me and for me.  I feel hugely thankful, but the time is right to return to be closer to my family and I’m excited about the opportunities ahead.”

When asked what she was most excited about in her new role, Helen said:

“Supporting people with a desire to meet and engage with children and families in their locality and share about their faith, in a variety of ways.  Helping those who are feeling weary, offering encouragement and sharing of ideas.  I am thinking there will be a lot of listening, praying and talking!”

Outside of work Helen loves to be outside – gardening, running, rowing, photography, walking, being with family on the farm, long distance treks and a bit of beekeeping.

Helen is due to start her new role with the diocese in August this year.
