Posted: 20th May, 2025

One church in Devon is lacing up their walking boots as they begin their trek from Land’s End to Cranbrook as part of their fundraising campaign.

Cranbrook Church is making it their mission to raise funds which will help them to build a community and worship space for the new town. The church currently meets for their Sunday services in St Martin’s School, Cranbrook. It is hoped that

They began their trek on the 15 May, starting at Land’s End. Over 18 days, they will be walking 256 miles.

Rev’d Jon Holder, Vicar of Cranbrook Church, will be leading the way on this exciting venture.

Jon said, “It’s a whole lot of walking, but I believe it’s totally worth every blister!

“We love Cranbrook and as a church we are passionate about being good news to our community. Essential to this is providing a space for the church to gather and worship and providing desperately needed community space.

“Cranbrook is a great place to live, but there’s no church building and very few community facilities. We have a real vision to build something that meets the needs of our community and shares God’s love with them.”

Members from the local church will be joining for sections of the route. On Saturday 31 May the Bishop of Exeter, the Rt Rev’d Dr Mike Harrison, will be joining them for a part of the walk.

The Archdeacon of Exeter, the Venerable Andrew Beane and the Cranbrook Scouts will be joining them on Sunday 1 June.
