St Boniface Awards 2026
The Company of St Boniface was established by the Bishop of Exeter as a way of honouring lay people who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of the Church in Devon.
Criteria
Criteria for nomination as a Companion of St Boniface include:
- making a significant difference in their church community or field of ministry
- fruitfulness in mission and evangelism
- outstanding engagement with children and young people
- improving life for others by bringing communities together in new ways
- displaying moral courage and vision in making and delivering tough choices
- making a valuable contribution to the care of creation and/or addressing climate change
- Services to safeguarding
The awards are open to lay people who are worshipping members of an Anglican church in the Diocese of Exeter, but not diocesan employees. They are also open to staff, volunteers and governors of Church of England schools in the Diocese.
Young People
We are keen to encourage nominations for people aged 11-18 so please do consider young people when considering who to nominate.
Nominations Panel
Nominations will be considered by a panel comprising of the Bishop of Exeter, the Bishop of Crediton, the Bishop of Plymouth, and the Chairs of the House of Laity and Clergy of the Diocesan Synod. The relevant Archdeacon, Rural Dean or Lay Chair will be consulted prior to a decision. Successful nominees to become Companions of St Boniface will be notified by the end of March.

Saturday 6 June – 2.30pm Afternoon tea at the Palace, Exeter. 4.00pm St Boniface Awards Service at Exeter Cathedral
