Plymouth 2035

Plymouth 2035 is a bold, missional, 10-year plan to see lives transformed by Jesus, churches reimagined, and communities transformed across the city.

Plymouth 2035 is part of Pray, Grow, Serve 2035, the Diocese of Exeter’s strategy based on its vision to grow in prayer, make new disciples and serve the people of Devon with joy.

The Bishop of Plymouth says Plymouth 2035 is a ‘bold reshaping’ of the Church in Plymouth

It is grant-funded by a share of a £10m grant from the Church of England’s Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board (SMMIB).

Plymouth 2035 aims to help 2,035 people come to faith in Plymouth over the next decade and revitalise the Church in Devon’s largest urban centre. It also hopes to see 2035 adults and 2035 under 18s exploring Christian faith in the next 10 years and 35 new worshipping communities across the city.

The plan includes the appointment of a half-time social justice post for Plymouth and a new City Dean to co-ordinate mission within the city.

The Bishop of Plymouth, the Rt. Rev’d James Grier, said “I am delighted for Plymouth. It is a wonderful city with so much that is fantastic about it and yet also has challenges. Churches are already doing much to serve the city, but this funding will enable a bold reshaping of the Anglican church in Plymouth to offer hope and transformation in Christ.”
