Sustainable Schools
SIAMS and Church Links
The resources on this page will help your school to meet the SIAMS inspection criteria, covering the theology of creation care and providing inspiration for activities which help teach the principles of courageous advocacy.
The links between well-being and connection to nature are well documented. Encouraging your pupils to champion local biodiversity will foster a sense of inclusion and well-being among your community as well as educating your pupils in the wider themes of climate justice and social responsibility.
The Church of England are encouraging all churches to take part in the Eco Church scheme, part of the scheme encourages churches to link with their local communities on projects such as Churches Count on Nature. We strongly encourage you to get in touch with your local church and ask to partner with them and we are encouraging churches to connect with schools through these programmes also.
Eco Schools
The Eco Schools Programme is an internationally recognised award and provides a brilliant framework for your sustainability lead to work through:
It is free to register and work through the program but there is a cost of £200+vat to have your application assessed and to become accredited.
