St Mellitus College
St Mellitus College is dedicated to providing theology in the context of worship, unity and mission, helping Christians explore their faith more deeply, combining academic excellence, a focus on missional leadership, and the flexibility to complement life’s commitments.
In this spirit, they offer a nourishing and stretching formational environment for Anglican ordinands in training, alongside the intellectual and spiritual equipping of lay people pursuing undergraduate theological study.
We love to see the Church of God learning together in this way as we grow further into Christlikeness, pursuing God’s call on our life through the realisation of our vocations.
Where is the college?
In 2017, the Dioceses of Exeter and Truro invited the National College to enter into partnership in the gospel, to set up a centre in the South West that offers full-time context-based training, and study of theology. This Centre, based in Plymouth, draws on national and local resources to bless the region. The vision of the centre is to join in the equipping and renewal of the Church in the South West, and to ‘awaken the saints’ of this generation, as students engage with local ministers and Dioceses.
They really value the connections with local church communities through the lay students and ordinands. The distinctive approach of ‘Generous Orthodoxy’ means that the community includes students from across the breadth of the Anglican church, as well as other denominations, making it an expansive place to discover the wonders of God in creation and to be resourced for a deeply generous and well-informed ministry.
