Core Pathway: Basic Awareness
The Basic Awareness safeguarding module is required for all volunteers and paid staff. This module is renewed every three years where it is the highest level required for the role. The module is provided online through the National Safeguarding Training Portal and can be worked through by yourself in the comfort of your home or office workspace.
More information on the required attendees for Basic Awareness can be found in the national Safeguarding Learning and Development Framework – Section 3.1.
Completing the Course
To undertake Basic Awareness go to the National Safeguarding Training Portal using the quick link below. If you do not already have an account you will need to create a user account for the Portal. Once logged in, navigate to Courses / Core Pathways / Basic Awareness. Once the course has been completed you will find your certificate under Records / My Training Records.
You can allow your Parish Safeguarding Representative to view your record directly by entering the email address that corresponds with the profile of the person you would like to view your training records – ie the email address that they use themselves to access the Portal. This should be entered in a box at the bottom of the ‘edit profile‘ screen, titled ‘Local reporting (allow a user with the following email address to view my training record)’.
The Diocesan team are unable to help with access issues to the Portal. If you experience problems logging into the National Safeguarding Training Portal please send an email to the National Safeguarding Team Training Helpdesk. There is also a helpful FAQ page on the National Safeguarding Training Portal website.
