Safeguarding Training: Permission to Officiate

The PtO Safeguarding training course is for clergy with the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate. PtO clergy can undertake either this course or the Leadership Pathway safeguarding training course to renew their Safeguarding training. PtO Safeguarding Training is delivered in-person in various locations within Exeter Archdeaconry and takes place from 10:00 – 13:00 on weekdays only.

The course includes pre and post-course work and participants will need to allow enough time to complete this. The course workbook will be emailed to participants two weeks prior to the course date and should be returned no later than 2 working days prior to the course.

Pre-coursework

The participant workbook will be emailed to participants two weeks prior to the course date. If you do not receive the pre coursework email, please check your Junk or Spam folders for an email from safeguardingtraining@exeter.anglican.org.

Complete the pre coursework tasks within the workbook and then email the completed questions to safeguardingtraining@exeter.anglican.org at least two working days prior to the course date.

Post-coursework

The post-course section of the workbook must be submitted within two weeks following the course in order to gain certification and completion. Post-course work consists of evaluation tasks and should demonstrate how the learning from the course will be applied and integrated into your safeguarding practices. If not completed with submission of post-course work, participants will be required to re-book onto a future course and complete the course again.
