Meet the Funders Day 2023

On Wednesday 29th March St Matt’s Church in Exeter became the location of our first Meet the Funders event for Devon Churches. Almost a hundred people gathered to hear from representatives of The Benefact Trust, The National Churches Trust, The Heritage Lottery Fund, as well as the Church Grants database team.

Paul Playford, Grant Officer for the Benefact Trust shared news about the Christian Funders Forum, a group of executives of grant-making trusts and foundations. Members of the forum grant more than £60 million a year to Christian work. Paul also shared news of the Benefact Trust’s current funding programme.

The team from the Church Grants database shared advice on how to write successful grant applications, and shared news of their upcoming webinar on planning a church fundraising project. And representatives from The Heritage Lottery fund and National Churches Trust shared the latest news about their funding programmes and their desire to see churches apply. See links below.

Sophie Phillips, our Net Zero Carbon Officer mentioned a few key resources and websites to help churches address their environmental impact, including information from the CofE on how to fundraise for Net Zero projects.

We will continue to update the website and post in Roots and Shoots. Sign up to the Generosity and Giving Facebook Group to be inspired by all things giving, gratitude and generosity. And check out our webpage which has copies of all the presentations offered by our speakers on the day.
